When approaches 16R and 34L at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International airport were in need of a makeover, Pollite, working closely with Avionics Limited, were called on to manufacture and deliver a set of over 150 fully frangible masts ranging from 0.5 to 6m. These masts were installed successfully in March 2014.
A number of recent, high profile incidents highlight the importance of frangibility for airfield structures in the immediate area surrounding the runway and threshold.
