Pollite supply a complete range of frangible masts for airfield approach lighting. From a single light mast to a five light cross arm with an SFL/Flash Unit, Pollite frangible masts are designed with a number of beneficial features:
- virtually maintenance free design
- UV resistant gel coat finish which will not degrade
- totally corrosion free
- temperature/weather resistant
- no electro-magnetic interference
- hollow construction for concealment of cables
- low shipping cost
- UK manufactured
- custom designs available
All Pollite approach masts are manufactured from fibreglass and polyester resin, finished with a UV resistant gel coat. Each pole has a unique break system incorporated within the mast and is coloured to a standard Aviation Yellow (alternative colours are available). Supporting cross arms are also made from fibreglass to enhance the pole’s frangibility and reduce the overall weight.
Installations
Pollite frangible approach masts have been installed across the globe, from small regional airports, to some of the world’s largest, including Dubai and London Heathrow.
Lifespan
Because of their composite design, Pollite masts are designed to last without the need for constant maintenance. Their corrosion free design means an expected lifespan of over 30 years, coming with an industry leading 10 year warranty.
Unique hinge assembly for pin point re-alignment
All Pollite masts come complete with a unique hinged foot which, once correctly installed, ensures no future re-alignment is required when raising and lowering the mast for servicing the lighting system. Complete foundation and installation details are provided with all masts.
Height adjustment for light fittings
Every Pollite mast has an additional adjuster that allows 110mm additional upward adjustment per light fitting. Masts will always be pre-cut in our factory prior to dispatch but can be further reduced on site due to their fibreglass composition.
Maintenance
Pollite frangible approach masts require minimal maintenance. The monopole design means the continuous parallel pole has no weak points or joints in which water could ingress, freeze then cause the structure to crack.
A winch mechanism is available on masts of 5.5m and above. It is designed to fit all masts and comes with a lightweight detachable cradle. The winch and cradle are designed for an individual to raise and lower the masts without assistance.
A screw jack is recommended on 180mm diameter masts 6-13 metres tall. The jack effortlessly connects directly to the mast and ground plate, and is operated by using a hand held, battery powered drill, which means minimum effort is required to lift even the largest Pollite mast.
Complying with ICAO and FAA requirements
All Pollite masts are fully ICAO and FAA approved for frangibility. Masts have also been tested to ensure compliance with deflection, wind speed, UV and salt spray requirements.
Custom solutions available
We understand that each airfield approach path has its own unique design challenges. Sometimes standard products will not work and a unique solution is required to meet legislation. Pollite can work with you to produce products that meet your exact requirements. Our design engineers have worked on some of the world’s most challenging projects and delivered innovative solutions.
